The plain version
- We only collect what Pinch of needs to work: your account, your recipes and the plans and lists you make.
- No adverts, and we never sell your data.
- People you send a recipe to see only that recipe, and we don't track them.
- You can ask us to delete your account and everything in it at any time.
What we collect
Your account
Your email address and the name you choose. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider and we never see it.
What you add
The recipes, photos, tips and ratings you save, your meal plan, shopping list and pantry, and the links or text you import.
Your kitchen
If you invite someone into your kitchen, they can see and change its recipes, plan and shopping list, and so can you with theirs.
How the app is used
Which pages are visited and which buttons are pressed inside the app, so we can see what works and fix what doesn't. We don't collect this on shared recipe pages.
Connected AI assistants
If you connect an assistant, the name of that app and when it last used your account.
How we use it
To run Pinch of: keep you signed in, turn the links you paste into recipes, build your shopping list, and fix things when they break. We also use what we learn from how the app is used to make it better.
We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell it to anyone.
Who helps us run it
A few companies provide parts of the service. They only use your data to do that job for us.
- Supabase stores your account, your recipes and your photos, and signs you in.
- Google (Gemini) reads the pages, text and videos you import, so we can turn them into a recipe.
- PostHog, in the EU, records how the app is used, as described above.
- [Hosting provider] runs the servers Pinch of lives on.
Sharing a recipe
When you share a recipe, anyone with the link can see it: its photo, ingredients and steps. They don't need an account, and we don't track them. Anyone in your kitchen can stop sharing at any time, and the link stops working straight away.
AI assistants you connect
If you connect Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant, it can only do what you approve when you connect it: find and read your recipes, add to your plan and shopping list, and save new recipes. It can't delete or share your recipes.
You can disconnect an assistant any time in Settings, under Connected apps. What you type into the assistant itself is covered by that company's own privacy policy.
Cookies
We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in, and for the usage analytics above. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and none at all on shared recipe pages.
Where and how long we keep it
Your data is stored in [region]. We keep it for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your data within [30 days], except where the law requires us to keep something.
Your choices
You can see and change your recipes and details in the app at any time. To get a copy of your data or delete your account, [how to do this, or email us]. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us first, and you can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Pinch of isn't meant for children under [age].
Changes
If we change this page, we'll update the date at the top. If it's a big change, we'll tell you in the app first.
